“Rangoli” is a festive Indian folk art created with bright materials like rice, dry flour, colored sand and flower petals, arranged in patterns on floors in living rooms or courtyards.
Rangoli of Rhymes, by Manorama Gotur, is a collection of light verse that celebrates the varying colors, patterns and rhythms of life. It is an homage to the simple and ordinary things that add beauty and meaning to life and—in the end—make it extraordinary. The 59 poems here were written over a number of years, several in celebration of family and friends, and are accompanied by photographs taken by the author.
Portraits of reality
Or products but of reverie,
Enigmatic entities
Translating, each distinctively,
Reflections of humanity;
Yes! That to me is poetry.
